What: Model Railroading University - Doctorate Degree Program. Sixteen hours of instruction in Laser kit Construction-LED Lighting-Programming PICAXE Chips-Animation-3D Printing-Sketch-Up and Make your part.
Specifics: You will learn to draw a part in Google's Sketch-Up Program and then make the part on an Afinia H 3D Printer. Staff from the Afinia company will be part of the teaching team for this session. Kent Hurley, go to http://nvrr49.blogspot.com, to see some of Kent's work in HO scale. Kent will teach the class on Sketch-Up and on the 3D Printer. Kent is a great teacher and is really knowledgeable when using the Afinia H Printer.
The part you will draw and make on the Printer will be the turbine vents for the top of the laser kit you are building. Then MRU will have you animate the vents on top of your building. You will use a gear motor and chain drive for this part of your project. It will make a great little bit of animation for your layout.
To control all of this you will learn from Dave Bodner about the PicAxe chip for controlling lights, servos, sound, and animation. The PicAxe chip was developed for school children in England to learn how to program IC chips. You will learn to control your buildings animation and sound with this chip.
